Two laptops with the same name may differ in processor, memory, screen, and battery condition. Before searching, write down what you need the computer for and which specifications are essential. This is more useful than choosing the cheapest “ThinkPad” or “MacBook” without knowing the exact configuration.

Where to Look for a Used Laptop in Serbia

Start with ads in Belgrade or Novi Sad. For searching within chats, there are the Belgrade Telegram flea markets. Additional offers can be checked on KupujemProdajem by using the model name and the word “laptop.”

Compare offers in the city where you can inspect the device, or clarify the conditions for remote purchase in advance. The cost of travel and not being able to inspect may outweigh the price difference.

Which Specifications to Request

  • Full model name and processor.
  • Amount of RAM and storage.
  • Screen resolution and keyboard layout.
  • Battery condition and behavior without the charger.
  • Repairs, defects, signs of liquid exposure, and included accessories.

Ask for a photo of the specifications in the system and of the device itself. Descriptions like “Core i7” or “for gaming” are not enough: they don’t specify the configuration and what it’s capable of.

What to Check During the Meeting

Agree on the inspection in advance. Bring headphones and a USB drive without personal data if you want to test the corresponding ports.

Check charging and operation without the adapter

Open a familiar work task: a document, browser, or the needed program if it’s installed. Note any shutdowns, freezes, or unusual noise. A few minutes of operation does not show real battery life—do not conclude autonomy from a short meeting.

Check Access and Preparation for Handover

Clarify whether there are any unknown passwords on startup or any company or school management restrictions. For Macs, ask the seller to prepare the device for handover according to Apple’s instructions, including signing out of accounts and erasing data.

Make sure that after preparation the computer can be set up for a new owner. If access by a previous owner or organization is required, postpone the purchase until this is resolved.

How to Estimate the Final Cost

Add the cost of any missing adapter, necessary accessories, and known repairs to the price. If the model allows you to replace the memory or storage, check compatibility and prices first— not all laptops support such upgrades.

If there is a significant difference between the description and what you see during inspection, do not rush to negotiate: first, decide if you want to buy a device with the identified defect at all. For expensive purchases, you can agree to have it diagnosed in a service center.
