Start from the date by which you need to vacate the apartment. This will determine what to sell now, what to keep using until departure, and what to do with items if there are no buyers. Posting an ad does not guarantee a sale by the deadline, so you need a backup option: give them to acquaintances, donate, or arrange for storage.

Divide items into three groups

  • Available for immediate pick-up: everything you no longer use. Photograph and list these first.
  • Available for later pick-up: bed, work desk, refrigerator. Immediately specify the date available for handover.
  • Easier to give away as a set: inexpensive dishes, small household items, leftover consumables. List the contents and condition of the set.

Leave time for disassembling and removing large furniture. Selling it and physically vacating the apartment are two separate tasks.

How to set a price

Find several similar ads in your city. Compare condition, set, and handover terms. The original purchase price isn't always helpful: the buyer chooses from currently available options.

Set the minimum amount you're willing to accept and the date when you'll reconsider the price. If there are no inquiries, first improve the photos and description. If time is tight, decide what is more important: revenue or guaranteed removal.

What to write in the ad

The first line should have the item and price. Then mention condition, dimensions or specifications, neighborhood, and handover date. Sample with placeholder data:

Selling work desk — 120 GEL
Tbilisi, Saburtalo. Pick-up by September 18.
Dimensions: 120 × 60 × 75 cm.
Scratch on tabletop — close-up in the last photo.
Legs are removable. 3rd floor, elevator available.
I will help disassemble; buyer handles removal and transport.
Viewing possible in the evening by prior arrangement.

Add overall views, details, and defects. For appliances, specify model, memory, set, and any known malfunctions. Do not use other people's photos instead of pictures of your actual item.

How to arrange a reservation

Confirm a specific meeting time and the period for which you will hold the item. For example: “Reservation until tomorrow, 18:00. If your plans change, please let me know in advance.” Do not promise the same item to several people at once.

Before the meeting, ask if the buyer has read about defects and is able to transport the item. For furniture, coordinate a vehicle, help with carrying out, and disassembly. For electronics, allocate time for inspection.

What to do on handover day

  1. Allow the buyer to inspect and check the item.
  2. Confirm the final amount and payment method.
  3. Check receipt of payment in your banking app, not using the buyer’s screenshot.
  4. Hand over the agreed set.
  5. Mark the item as sold in all listings.

If you are selling a phone or computer, make a backup in advance. Delete personal data and unlink accounts according to the manufacturer’s instructions before final handover of the device.
