On November 18, 1983, several young people attempted to hijack a plane from the Soviet Union to Turkey. Among the hijackers were students from Tbilisi universities, which influenced the tragic outcome of this event.

Despite the threat, the pilots refused to comply with the terrorists' demand, and the plane was landed again at the airport of Tbilisi.
